First Week In Ireland

We’ve been expecting the trip to Ireland since first grade; since then, we are selling raffles so as to save money. Therefore, this made us aware of how close we were to the actual trip. Now that we are, it seems really astonishing and incredible. Hence, there have been lots of things, places and experiences that are meant to be highlighted.

In first place, staying at family houses is a quite unique experience because we had never done this before. It is very nice to feel as if we were home even when we are so far away from our real one! Our hosting family has been really nice to us and has let us make our experience in Ireland even better. In second place, what has made this trip even more special is the fact that we are traveling with our friends. We are used to traveling with our families, and although that’s enjoyable too, in this way we experience things in a different way because we are a whole bunch of teenagers willing to learn about Ireland while having lots of fun!

Now referring to particular experiences that we’ve been through, I would like to accentuate some of them that have been really relevant for the whole trip. “The Cliffs Of Moher” gave us a spectacular welcome to Dublin and its amazing views, we visited them on our first day and were completely surprised by that landscape. Visiting the Guinness Storehouse has also been quite fun because we could get to see each and every step of the process of making beer in a very interactive way. What’s more, at the highest floor of the huge building we could enjoy a 360 view of the surrounding city. Moreover, we have also been in contact with the typical sports that are practiced here in Ireland or “Gaelic Sports”. We got to know Croke Park and its history, actually practiced the sports in Sallmo Club, and we’ve been to a real rugby match in Leicester Stadium! Besides, we have also visited interesting traditional buildings, constructions and museums; such as Trinity College, Dublinia, Killkeny Castle, and Dunmore Caves among others.

Attending classes in Emerald Institute has also become a different experience due to the fact that we had never been to classes when traveling away from home. These classes have let us expand our vocabulary, learn about Irish cultural traditions and history, and participate in interactive activities.

To sum up, this trip has been everything but boring. We have gone through a lot in these days and we have many more things to discover yet. I am looking forward to knowing what this trip has to still show us.
